Tips for making learning easy

During preparation it is important that students cover all the chapters and topics in English which may seem vast at first. If a proper schedule is made and effective ways are followed students can score good marks in the final exam.

1. Prepare a timetable

English has a lot of chapters to be read for the exam and an extra supplementary reading to be read before the exam. It is important that the student plans how to cover all the chapters and have enough time to revise. Building a schedule will allow you to allocate time to each chapter and grammar practice as well.

Grammar learning requires you to clear your concepts and just practice as many exercises as possible. Prepare a timetable to help you read all the chapters thoroughly at least once before the exam.

2. Practice grammar

Grammar can be highly scoring if the concepts are understood properly. You can prepare it properly only by attempting exercises and extra questions. You can take help of extra books only for grammar practice and just attempt the questions. You should also self-assess yourself to know which topic needs more practice.

3. Practice Letter and Essay writing

Creative writing topics can be related to anything in the exam. There is no particular topic that might be given. It also depends on the student’s fluency of the language to be able to write well. It is important that you practice a few sample topics to know how to and what to write in the exam.

Also, most creative writing questions like letter writing have a format that needs to be followed. Make sure to practice and learn the correct format so that you do not lose any marks in creative writing.

4. Read the NCERT book thoroughly

All the literature questions are only asked from the NCERT textbook. It is necessary that you read all the chapters and poems in the book thoroughly and attempt the back exercise questions.

Attempting the back exercise questions will help you analyse how much of the chapter you have understood and what to write in the exam if any of those questions are asked.

You can take help of the ncert solutions for class 7 english in self-assessing your answers or taking help in understanding what the correct answer would be.

5. Prepare notes and summary

You might have time to read the chapters once more for revision before the exam if there is a lot of syllabus. It is advised that while reading the chapters and poems you write down notes and prepare summaries for each. This will help you revise quicker before the exam.

By preparing summaries for the poem it is also easier to understand it and attempt questions from it as it would be easier for you to understand the question. Sometimes, a summary question may be asked in a long-answer type question.

It would be very easy for you to attempt this if you would have already practiced how to summarise a poem or short story. This is especially important for the extra supplementary reading.

6. Practice sample papers

Practicing sample papers or question papers from the previous years will help you understand the type questions you can expect and the pattern of the paper. Attempting the paper will also help you improve your flow of writing.

It is not easy for all students to maintain a flow of writing whether it is creative writing or answers for literature. Attempting papers will help you get a hang of writing answers and also improve your writing skills.

While attempting, also time yourself. A lot of the time students do not have enough time left for the last long-answer type questions because they took too long while attempting creative  writing answers. To avoid this during exams, it is important that you better manage your time while attempting the sample papers.

7. Revise your paper before submitting it

Always make sure you have enough time to revise your answer sheet before submitting it. This will help you realise and correct any mistakes you might have made while writing the answers. These mistakes can be like spelling mistakes or even grammar mistakes that may cost you some marks. So make sure you revise your answers to avoid this.

By following the above tips you are bound to score good marks in your English exam and also make learning English easier for you. These tips will surely simplify the preparation process for you.
